Falling pregnant with twins: No Dr. Malpani complaints from this Australian couple!

Lately, some information has been circulating on the internet regarding Dr. Malpani poor service. Perhaps these are posted by disappointed moms-to-be, for whom the IVF treatment was unsuccessful. The fact remains, that IVF treatment is not 100% fool proof. There are many testimonials however, of parents who have had tremendous results after visiting the Malpani Clinic in Mumbai. We herewith share with you the story of the couple who did not experience any Dr. Malpani scams, but were blessed with beautiful twins! Here is this Australian mom’s story.
After 13 years of marriage and almost 10 years of failed attempts at IVF, we were disappointed and heart broken. For us this meant the end of a beautiful dream and we had lost all hope.

Then, just out of the blue, I saw an article by Dr. Malpani in the Outlook Magazine. We thought: he might be our last hope, and we decided to contact him via email in which we described our case history. We were unsure of whether he would actually respond to our correspondence, and if yes, surely the communication would be complicated? Also, thoughts of having IVF treatment on another continent were a bit daunting to say the least.

You can imagine how surprised we were at receiving Dr. Malpani’s prompt reply! And moreover, all our questions were answered with such detailed information; we could not believe our eyes.

We had already planned a trip to India for our vacation, and a possible appointment with the renowned IVF specialist at the Malpani Clinic would actually fit in perfectly. We were going to try it one last time. Somehow, we already knew deep down inside, that we had made the right decision, and we were quite confident this time that the IVF treatment would finally be successful.
Upon arrival at the Malpani Clinic in Mumbai, we were introduced to Dr. Malpani himself, and the IVF cycle commenced very shortly after. What struck us most was the warm and personal attention we received from Drs Aniruddha and Anjali Malpani. The reassuring feeling the medical staff gave us was also very pleasant, and really put our minds at ease. The fact that they were positive about our outcome, somehow rubbed off on my husband and I, and we were happier than we had been in a long, long time.
As mentioned earlier, back in Australia, we had already been through many unsuccessful IVF cycles, and the fact that we were treated as a number, rather than as a person, did also not help our overall state of mind. In Australia we only ever got to see the actual IVF specialist in the theatre.
Fourteen days after the transfer of my embryos had taken place, my blood tests already showed high levels of HCG!! I couldn’t stop crying! My husband and I could not believe it. It was just too good to be true.

Eight months later came the happiest day of our lives: I delivered two beautiful boys! Even though they had been born a few weeks too early, they were very healthy. We are still so, so grateful for having met these two amazing doctors. We have no words to explain our gratitude and happiness. Dr. Malpani has changed our lives forever; our dream has finally come                                                               true!

Dr. Malpani explains why  surrogacy treatment is being overused by IVF doctors

India is fast becoming the surrogacy capital of the world; this is both a good and a bad sign. On the brighter side it shows that Indian medical treatment meets global standards. On the other hand, this can also mean that infertility doctors might be overusing this technique. All this limelight has also resulted in problems for those couples who are going for IVF treatment.
Many IVF doctors are advising surrogacy to their patients even after 2 or 3 failed IVF cycles. The diagnosis that these doctors provide is ‘failure in implantation’ . They advise surrogacy, thus saving him from any further queries or complaints from the distressed couple. This advise has the implication that the patient has a faulty uterus , but this is false. The actual problem for IVF failure usually lies with the embryos , and this cannot be solved by changing the uterus. This flaw in the logic only benefits the IVFdoctor, since they can charge much more for doing surrogacy ; are not liable to any consumer complaints if the cycle fails because of a defective uterus !
Many IVF doctors conduct some very expensive tests to prove their so called diagnosis. These might include tests for Natural killer cells, Interferon-gamma levels and tumor necrosis factor ( TNF). These tests become expensive because the samples for testing might be sent to a different city. Now the shortcoming of these tests is that the result of these tests might be reported as abnormal even for fertile women. However, the doctors use this abnormality as the pretext of suggesting surrogacy. Also surrogacy is preferred because the records of the surrogates can be easily manipulated , which is why many patients find that their surrogate gets pregnant , and then mysteriously miscarries after a few weeks.
Patients fall for such ploys for multiple reasons. Firstly, , they blindly trust the doctor and do not do research on their own. Secondly, most infertile women have a low self-esteem and are very willing to believe that the flaw must be in their uterus , which is why surrogacy would be a better option. Thirdly, they might be tired of the whole procedure and would be happy to find a surrogate to carry their baby , as it saves them from the emotional stress of the IVF cycles.

The cases of older infertile women are even more tragic. The most common
reason for age related infertility in women is the aging of the eggs, due to which these develop genetic abnormalities. These become the main cause of a failed implantation. The problem is that these abnormalities cannot be screened beforehand to determine whether the eggs can be used for the procedure or not. In such cases , the best option will be to go for donor eggs instead of surrogacy , since the uterus of the woman I usually perfectly fine

Finally, the reason for the repeated failed IVF cycles may be a poor quality lab, which results in poor quality embryos, which will naturally fail to implant. This is why it’s often a better option for you to try and find a better doctor , rather than another uterus.
